Your digestive system is responsible for turning what you eat into energy and nutrients for your body. These nutrients are also used for growth, and cell repair. Food and drink must be changed into smaller molecules of nutrients before the blood absorbs them and carries them to cells throughout the body. As we age, this process naturally weakens.
