Natural ways to optimize your immune system
Influenza viruses continue to wreak misery, year after year. Viruses like parainfluenza viruses, adenoviruses, coronaviruses, rhinoviruses….not to mention bacteria such as Streptococcus. 

Although you may not be able to fully prevent a cold or flu this season, a healthy immune system is one way to give your body extra protection. Focusing on nutrient-rich foods and healthy lifestyle behaviors can help you and your family stay a step ahead of germs this season.

With all the work the immune system does, chances are the immune system can become weakened, but the good news is that you can support your immune system through proper nutrition and supplementation. While it's always best to get important nutrients from food, some vitamins can be difficult to get enough of from diet alone. 

So, which supplements are really the best for immune system boosting? Below is my list of favorites. 

Basic supplements

YL Ningxia Red Juice: 2 - 4 oz per day. Powerful immune system support

YL OmegaGize3 : 2 capsules per day of this vegan omega-3 supplement serves up essential fatty acids from algal oil instead of fish oil to support your heart, brain, eyes, and immune system.

YL Life 9 probiotic: 1 per day (important to support a healthy immune system)

Vit D3: at least 5000 IU per day is ideal for adults (any good brand is fine, as long as it is D3 not D2)

YL Enzymes: Choose your favorite YL enzymes and take daily

YL Inner Defense capsules: 1 capsule per week if at low risk, 1 capsule twice a week if at higher risk. This supplement contains the powerful oils of Thieves, Oregano, Thyme, and Lemongrass. For those unable to swallow capsules or if this formula upsets their stomach, open the capsule and apply the contents to the soles of the feet.

Other interventions

Thieves oil: apply to soles of the feet daily to support your immune system. Diffuse it in your workplace and home daily using a cold air diffuser (no heat as will destroy therapeutic properties). 

Thieves hand sanitizer, Thieves foaming hand soap: Regular hand washing is critical to prevention of illness and the Thieves soap gives added protection. Do not use anti bacterial soaps as they promote drug resistant bacteria! The Thieves hand sanitizer is different than store bought sanitizers as the Thieves one leaves a protective layer of Thieves and Peppermint oil on your skin.

At first signs of needing additional support, I do the following to support my body's natural defenses:

YL Ningxia Juice: increase your dose to 2 oz 3-5 times a day depending on severity

YL OmegaGize3 fish oil: 4 capsules twice a day.

YL Life 9: increase dose to 6 per day

Vit D3: increase dose to 10,000 IU per day, until additional support no longer needed

YL Enzymes: Add Essentialzyme enzymes between meals as well

YL Inner Defense: increase your dose to 2- 5 capsules per day depending on severity

YL Thieves hard lozenges: Use as often as needed to soothe sore throat

YL ImmuPro: chewable immune support, melatonin supplement, 1-2 before bed
